Growing up in the Caribbean, Joleen Decle began her painting career at Holy Name Convent. There, she graduated with her degree in Art and Languages. During this period, she entered many local Art competitions; The Berger Art Competition, where she received honorable mention for her seascape painting. She then went on to take art classes with Trinidadian Artist & Designer, Christopher Santos. She then moved to CA, where she pursued a career in acting and writing in Hollywood. Her full length feature film is still in the works, open for a producer.
In 1995, Joleen moved to Dallas and started working in Acrylic paints. She concentrated on the style of Georgia O'Keefe and the Southwest landscapes. After much exploration, she then decided to paint compositions closer to home. Using the exotic flowers found in the Caribbean, and the beautiful seascapes, she adds to the newest series, "Churches of the Caribbean".
Joleen's love and passion for art can be seen in the vibrant colors she uses in her pieces. The variety of subjects and styles of her work, allow her to be free to explore all the possibilities that exist in the art world. Some of her paintings have been compared to the style of Matisse, Picasso and Gauguin. Joleen returned to the Caribbean and had her first solo exhibition in Barbados, then in her homeland of Trinidad, April 2004.
Since her return, she has been exhibiting her works in stores and restaurants in the Dallas area. Joleen had a combined exhibition , with nine other artists to help raise awareness for AIDS , at the Dallas Resource center: "ART RAGE US" on December 4th 2004., On December 2nd and 3rd of 2005, they held ART RAGE US II, and the III, where they raised almost $4,000 for the center. In 2005, her exhibitions were at the IRIS restaurant in Dallas, a private showing at a home in University Park in May 2005, and in the summer she showed at Uptown Vision. She also had another joint show in April 2006 at Uptown Vision. Joleen also be exhibited at the VACD (Visual Arts Coalition of Dallas) in May of 2006. In 2009 she held an art show/fund raiser for the Cathedral of Hope in Dallas.
Joleen is very involved with the film and art festivals in Dallas. She is available for commissioned work during the year.
